The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Planetarium invites the community to attend its three remaining spring shows held at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. Each evening will feature movies utilizing the full-dome projection system, followed by a live presentation by ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Planetarium Director Dr. Tim Folkerts. The presentations will feature a tour of the night sky, hands-on activities or actual outdoor stargazing.

The Planetarium is located in the Science Building. Enter through the sliding doors on the north side.ÌýAdmission is free. All shows start at 7 p.m.

The Shafer Gallery will host the reception for its annual “BaRTaRT� exhibit at 6:30 p.m. on March 13. The show features work from every segment of the campus including students, faculty and staff. Refreshments will be provided and guest juror Brian Hutchinson, an Instructor of Art Education and Studio Foundations at Fort Hays State University, will announce awards.

The Academic Enrichment Fund (AEF) Campaign is one of the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Foundation’s most significant annual fundraising efforts. The campaign runs throughout March and is unique because it allows donors to specialize their gift by choosing which department or fund they would like to benefit from their generosity. All the donations are used for academic scholarships and program enhancements. There is no minimum donation amount.

Students from ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Central Kansas Upward Bound (CKUB) group volunteered with United Way of Central Kansas (UWCK) on Saturday.

More than 20 students and staff assembled more than 400 crafts and children literacy kits for UWCK’s child literacy program. ÌýThese items will be given to children in ºìÐÓÊÓƵ and Pawnee counties to emphasize the importance of early childhood education.

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Theatre will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderellaâ€� March 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and March 8 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Tickets are available at bartoncc.booktix.com.

Great Bend High Schooler Lawton Smith isn’t your average teenager. He already runs his own business called Mid-America Fabrication and is taking welding at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ. While his true passion is designing parts, having skills as a welder is what helps hold it all together.

“I like making parts more than welding,� he said. “I spend most of my time cutting, preparing, grinding and fitting, but it all goes hand-in-hand when you’re working with metal.�

The nursing program at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ has announced a secondary deadline accepting student applications for the 20-21 academic year until March 1. Those who applied during the first round of applications will receive priority status. Additional applicants from the secondary deadline will fill seats as available for both the Practical Nursing Certificate and the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
