ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Music Department to host instrumental concert β€œThe Great American Songbook”

The ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Instrumental Music Department will present a tribute to popular music in the United States spanning several decades titled β€œThe Great American Songbook,” at 7:30 p.m. April 22 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Free general admission tickets are available at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The experience will feature the Prairie Winds Concert Band, ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Jazz Ensemble, and ΊμΠΣΚΣơ’s rock band, β€œThe Riff.”

Director of Instrumental Activities Dr. Luis Palacios encourages music-lovers from every generation to come and enjoy the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century.

β€œThis is iconic music,” he said.Μύ β€œThey’re truly songs that have stood the test of time in their life and legacy. Many of the selections were published during the β€œGolden Age” of this genre including those popular and enduring tunes that were created for Broadway musical theatre and Hollywood films.”
