Dance Coordinator Danika Bielek said students pursuing a job or career in dance, or becoming a dance major, should consider what ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Dance Department has to offer.
“This is a great opportunity for students who want to perform more,†she said. “ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Dance Department offers competitive performance award scholarships that can help pay for school while students continue to grow as dancers in a nurturing and creative environment. We also have excellent awards for students who want to gain credentials to become a dance teacher as well!â€
ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Dance Department strives to:
- Give dance students an understanding of what it is like to dance in a dance company.
- Give dance majors and students pursuing other majors the opportunity to continue their love of dancing in college.
- Expose dance students to a variety of dance styles, and how to perform them.
- Give students experience dancing at different of venues, for a variety of audiences.
- Increase dance students’ knowledge of healthy practices for performers: nutrition, maintaining a healthy body, and social aspects of a dance company.
- Create technically strong and resilient dancers while learning to perform dance as an art form.
- Expose dance majors to university dance program options to consider transferring into after ºìÐÓÊÓƵ.
To be considered for company placement, dance students must have at least two years of dance experience and plan to attend ºìÐÓÊÓƵ in the fall of 2022. Once accepted, students will register for DANC 1001 ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Dance Theatre (2 credits) meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00- 8:00 p.m.
ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Performing Arts Dance Program is offering generous performance scholarships to ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Dance Theatre members. The dance program is also providing scholarships for students who wish to take other dance classes.
