ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅βs Dance Department invites dance students aged 12-18 to be a college dancer for a day at the fifth annual βΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Cougar Dance Dayβ from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 6 in Studio 34 on the south side of the ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Campus.
Participants will enjoy a full day of free dance classes, lunch, and clinics with ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Dance Theatre and the ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Dance Team while experiencing what it is like to dance in college.
Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator and Dance Instructor Danika Bielek said the day has been a great stepping stone for dance students interested in pursuing dance in college, as well as helping recreational dance students learn new dance styles.
βWe have held this event for some years now, and I have been fortunate enough to remain in contact with many of our attendees, and most have indicated that the ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Cougar Dance Day helped them discover what direction they wanted to take in dance,β she said. βSome went on to major in dance at ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ or other institutions. Other attendees have a love for types of dance they never had access to in the past. I think all attendees, regardless of their dance goals, will have a great time.β
The event will conclude with dance scholarship auditions from 3β4 p.m. for high school seniors interested in performing with ΊμΠΣΚΣΖ΅ Dance Theatre or receiving a dance scholarship.
